Max is an impressive male that attracts attention wherever he goes, with a commanding presence and outgoing, well balanced personality. He is well muscled with extraordinarily thick bone and an excellent head that conforms closely to the ideals set out in the SABBS breed standard, one of the most important distinguishing attributes of a Boerboel. Max has good pigment, thick skin, a dense coat, straight front legs, and solid rear angulation.

He is still a young dog, and we expect him to continue to mature and improve over the next year or so. He scored 84.1% at his first SABBS Linear appraisal at only 18 months of age. We expect him to score higher at a second appraisal. But unfortunately SABBS has temporarily halted re-appraisals, common for developing dogs, because of the pandemic.

Max is a consistently happy dog who strives to please and loves attention. He has a good sense of discernment and only becomes alert and imposing when appropriate. He is gentle and calm when properly introduced to new people, children, livestock, and other dogs. Max is an ambassador of the breed, often accompanying us on outings to stores and restaurants, and he eagerly jumps in the truck for a trip at every chance. Max has proven he can pass on his outstanding Boerboel type, already having produced exceptional offspring in South Africa. We are extremely excited by the prospect of the puppies he will produce in our kennel.

His impressive pedigree is also worth noting. Max is out of parents from the famed Elevation Kennels in South Africa, owned by Kenny van der Merwe. In his lines, on both sides of his pedigree, he has the prestigious Groenberg Rambo, also owned by Elevation Kennels. We expect the balanced line breeding on this dog to strongly reinforce Boerboel type. Moreover, note that most of the dogs in Max’s lineage have SABBS appraisal scores of 90% or higher; any single dog scoring 90% or higher is exceptional, but to have so many high scoring dogs in one pedigree is truly remarkable.
