Our girl’s personality and natural instincts are unbelievable. She is still a puppy, but the calmest dog you can imagine.
I have two little girls and an elderly uncle who just had a painful hip replacement and has difficulty walking, so I was worried about having a large dog. But she is gentle and attentive with all of them in ways I find hard to describe. Sometimes she comforts my uncle when he is in pain, then comes to me and whines and looks at him asking to help him. These things amaze me every time I see them.
When people come to the house, my Rottweiler barks at the gate. But our Boerboel comes and gets me. I ask her what she needs and she goes to the door and sits until I get there, even though she has a doggie door and could go outside on her own. She escorts me all the way to the gate to meet whoever is there. She never jumps or gets excited, just wiggles her butt and stays at my side. I have not trained her to do any of these things!! I haven’t even had to correct her for bad behavior... EVER!!!

I discovered Paragon Boerboels by chance in person and was amazed by a pregnant female dog I met. Her interactions with her humans were so calm, especially for being such a large dog.
We submitted our application and they discussed the dogs with us extensively, including preferred methods in raising this breed and breeding in general. The passion for the dogs was obvious, but we appreciated even more the care taken to match the puppy with our household.
We have a small hobby farm, livestock, another large dog, cats, and five young children. We knew bringing any new dog into the home was going to be a learning process, but bringing such a large breed into the house, as much as we wanted to, was an intimidating idea. But the puppy they matched us with is perfect.
Even at such a young age, the balanced temperament of our boy is obvious and he has fit into the household easily. He’s very loving and patient. He doesn’t know his own size, but he respects even when the toddler leads him. He’s slow to react and takes cues from his humans about new circumstances. We’ve been so impressed with how quickly he’s fit into our lives.
